To further strengthen the friendship between Cyprus and China, allow more Cypriots and local foreign friends to learn about the Chinese culture as well as provide opportunities for the Chinese in Cyprus to feel the culture of their motherland; at the mean time to add more vitality to the construction of the＂Maritime Silk Road＂of＂One Belt One Road＂initiative, now China-Cyprus Economic and Cultural Exchange Association, the Confucius Institute of the University of Cyprus, and the Limassol Municipality have decided to jointly organize “Cyprus Chinese Cultural Festival” every year starting from 2017; the event is also greatly supported by the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus, Cyprus Ports Authority and Nanjing Municipal Government.
The First Cyprus Chinese Culture Festival will be held at Limassol Old Port Exhibition Hall and Old Port Square from Sep.15th 2017 to Sep.17th 2017.
In celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Nanjing - Limassol Sister City establishment, Nanjing Art Troupe will bring tranditional Chinese Music and Dance Performances to the Festival Opening Ceremony.
The organizers also specially invited China’s National Master Chef Li Guang Yuan who is one of the best chefs specializing on China Palace cuisine. Master Li will be joining the festival with his students demonstrating China’s richest food culture.
This festival will demonstrate China’s traditional and modern culture through exhibitions, performances and interactive performances as well as demonstrating traditional Chinese food with live cooking on site. The Cultural Festival will serve as an important part for constructing “One Belt One Road” initiative; The festival aims to create an important platform for cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries and become the main window for the people of Cyprus to learn about China's long history, civilization and the splendid food culture. It shall play a very positive role in pushing the construction of the＂ Maritime Silk Road＂of “ One Belt One Road”.
